Worker finds new role after being denied raise, inexplicably offered 50% raise in counteroffer

All too often, we see stories like this where employers completely undervalue their staff until they're already out the door. Then, inexplicably, they suddenly have the cash flow to offer them the raise that they had consistently been denied.
